Crinum for Descanso Gardens
Crinum (Crinum x powellii ) is a deciduous, bulbous perenial.
It forms large clusters of bulbs and can reach up to five feet tall
when conditions are right.
Blooms show from white to mid-pink from late summer through fall.
It attract hummingbirds and is a common southern 'passalong plant'.
The sap may irritate skin, and all parts cause severe indigestion if eaten.
- CULTIVATION:
- Location: Plant it in full sun.
- Soil: Provide fertile, moist but well drained humous.
- Water: Water regularly for best bloom, although it will
survive and bloom with less.
- PROPAGATION:
Divide the plant occasionally when very crowded (it doesn't like
to be disturbed) or remove and plant offsets in spring.
