Dutch Iris for Descanso Gardens
Dutch Iris (Iris) is a slender, upright perennial growing from a bulb.
There are several selections each showing a different blossom color, mostly
in the blue-purple or yellow tones.
Dutch Iris do well in deep pots and can be forced for indoor bloom.
- CULTIVATION:
- Location: Plant in direct sun.
- Soil:
- Water: If there is no rain, water regularly during spring when
bloom is present.
Reduce water after flowers and foliage die back.
Plants become dormant in summer and return the following spring.
- PROPAGATION: Divide every 3-4 years during fall.
Bulbs are dormant during summer and fall.
- PROBLEMS: Rodents.
