Pomegranates for Descanso Gardens

Pomegranate (Punica is a small shrub that bears edible fruit. It grows up to twenty feet tall and dwarf cultivarss are available. Blooms are orangy and showy. Plant in a warm microclimate. It may freeze in our more severe winter seasons.

CULTIVATION:

• Location: Plant in full sun.
• Soil: Likes fertile, well-drained soil.

PROPAGATION:

• Pomegranate may be started from seed in a flat or cold frame in earlysummer.
• It may also be started from semi-ripe cuttings on bottom heat in summer.
